FAQ

  • Do I have to register to go on the run?

No. Just turn up on the day.

  • Do I have to pay a fee to go on the run?

No. But we do expect you to bring along either an Easter Egg for the kids in the hospitals and/or a donation for Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

  • Who should cheques be made payable to?

'Yorkhill Children's Foundation'

  • Is Yorkhill Children's Foundation a registered charity?

Yes. It's regsitered charity number is SCO07856.

  • Can we ask for some or all of our funds to be donated to a particlar ward/department?

Yes. Please write on your donation form/envelope how much of your donation you would like to go to a particlar ward/department. All funds will still be donated to Yorkhill Children's Foundation but they will then ensure the correct amounts get allocated appropriately.

  • There's a huge amount of Easter Eggs collected. I'm sure all the kids in the hospital couldn't eat them all so where do they all go?
  • All hospital areas (including outpatients and patients' siblings)
  • The community midwives (some who visit poorer areas where children may not get Easter eggs)
  • Community Health visitors
  • Home care team
  • Little Sister's of Charity
  • Down's Association
  • Home for Adults with learning difficulties, Balshagray House, Balshagray Drive, Broomhill.
  • Ward 8, Gartnavel psychiatric Hospital, Shelley Road.
  • How much of the money raised does MAG Scotland take to pay for the organisation of the run?

None. The few costs incurred in the organisation of the run are paid for by our sponsor Scottoiler and out of the organisers' own pockets.

  • Can I bring my kids along?

Yes. The run is very much a family affair but remember, especially if your kids are to be on a motorbike, it is your responsibility to ensure their safety.

  • Are learner riders allowed?

Yes. The route does not include any motorway stretches so ALL riders can attend the run.

  • Won't the Police be looking for race cans/dark visors/small numberplates?

No. The Police are only there to ensure the safe passage of the run. But don't push it!! If you think they're gonna turn a blind eye to riders without crash helmets, tyres worn down to the threads, dangerous riding, etc. then think again.
Just because they don't pull you on the day doesn't mean you won't get done - they have been known to take a note of registration numbers and follow up later in the week.

  • Will the world's press be there and print stories declaring us to be heroes?

No. Dry your eyes.

  • Why don't you invite celebrities along to the run?

We do. Every year Yorkhill and ourselves invite various celebs and VIPs to come and join us on the run but so far, with the notable exception of Chick Young at the 2003 run, we have failed to attract any. In fact, about half of them don't even bother responding to our invites and those that do cite work and family commitments (it is Easter after all) for being unable to attend. We do, however, live in hope and will keep sending out the invites.
